My passion for creating original art pieces started as a child growing up on a farm in Nebraska. Mud pies were my favorite. One time my Mom gave me a 10 lb. bag of flour with bugs in it. Can you imagine what a joy that was? Lucky for me my Mom was very encouraging. I will never forget when she taught me how to draw. I was also lucky to experience a very fine art program in our public school. (Read more…)

Marianne Walch
moved to the Delaware shore from the D.C. area six years ago. An environmental biologist and teacher of yoga and tai chi, Marianne has had a passion for art and photography for most of her life. She studied art for a number of years with Mildred Bottner Anderson, a well-known Maryland painter. As a graduate student in microbiology, she learned to develop and print microscopy images and did graphic design for scientific publications. Later she also studied black and white photography and darkroom techniques at the Smithsonian Institution. (Read more…)

NEW FACES & OLD PLACES IN PHOTOGRAPHY
205 Lavinia Street Gallery in Milton De. presents a Black & White Photographic Exhibition on the cutting edge of a dying art form. The opening including live music is Saturday April 26, 2008, 8 to 11 PM and will run through May 26. Works include dogs and their owners, disappearing architecture in Delaware and vivid images of journeys through Asia. There will be continuous video depicting the procedures from shooting the photos through the development process. (Read more…)

Noted poet and editor Gerry LaFemina will be conducting a short-term, intensive poetry workshop at the 205 Lavinia Gallery in Milton, De. from Thursday night March 27 - Sunday morning, March 30, 2008. The workshop will focus on both preexisting participant work as well as new-work generating exercises, focused craft lectures, and a discussion on publishing. “The idea is to have it be an MFA seminar in a suitcase,” LaFemina says, and notes that the weekend will include a participant reading and a special guest poetry reading, time to write, time to socialize, and focused time on participant work.
